A Prayer for Strength
Prayer for Strength
Some seasons take more than you have. This prayer is for those days: when you're running on empty, when the load is heavy, or when you just need to get through today.
✦ The prayer
Lord, I'm tired. You already know it, but I'm saying it out loud.
I've been carrying more than I can hold: work, family, worries, and things I haven't told anyone. I keep trying to be strong on my own, and it isn't working.
You promised that those who wait on You will renew their strength. So I'm waiting. Give me enough for today. Not for next month, just today.
Lift what I can't lift. Give me rest that sleep alone doesn't give. Send me people who will carry some of this with me, and make me humble enough to let them.
I also pray for the people who carry heavy loads for the rest of us: our leaders, first responders, caregivers, and anyone running on empty tonight. Strengthen them too. In Jesus' name, amen.
✦ Scripture

but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.Isaiah 40:31 (ESV)
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.Matthew 11:28 (ESV)
