A Prayer for Wisdom
Prayer for Wisdom
Big decision in front of you? Or a hundred small ones? God promises wisdom to anyone who asks. Pray this before you decide.
✦ The prayer
Lord, I need wisdom, and You said You give it generously to anyone who asks. So I'm asking.
You know the decision in front of me better than I do. Show me what I can't see. Slow me down if I'm rushing. Give me courage if I'm stalling.
Help me trust You more than my own understanding. Quiet the loudest voices around me so I can hear Yours. Send wise counsel, and help me actually listen to it.
I also pray for the leaders who make decisions that affect all of us: in our cities, our statehouses, and our nation. Give them wisdom beyond their own, humility to change course, and the courage to do what's right when it costs them.
Make my path straight, and help me walk in it. In Jesus' name, amen.
✦ Scripture
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.James 1:5 (ESV)
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.Proverbs 3:5–6 (ESV)
