A Prayer for Christmas
Christmas Prayer
Christmas can be loud, busy, and heavy all at once. This prayer slows it down and brings it back to the reason for the season. Read it on Christmas Eve, at dinner, or any night in Advent.
✦ The prayer
Lord Jesus, You came quietly. No palace, no parade, just a manger and a few shepherds who noticed.
Thank You for coming. Thank You for being Immanuel, God with us, in the joy and in the mess.
This Christmas, slow us down. Help us notice the people in front of us more than the to-do list. Bring peace to our tables and comfort to anyone missing someone this year.
You are the Prince of Peace, and the government is on Your shoulders, not ours. Bless our leaders and their families this season. Give them rest and remind them they're loved.
Let Your light shine in every dark place this Christmas. In Your name, amen.
✦ Scripture
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.Isaiah 9:6 (ESV)
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!Luke 2:14 (ESV)
